Floating the San Marcos river has been the town’s tradition for the longest time now. It’s a great way to spend the weekend with your family or friends. You’ll find that many people love to take some music, drinks, and ride their floaties. Just make sure that you take some sunscreen and try not to float the river when its cold outside! The running water is already fresh and it gets extremely cold during the winter.
If you ever forget to take a tube or just don’t have one, Texas State Tubes will be your best bet! They rent out tubes and other products for the day.

Whether you love shopping or are looking for some good deals, the San Marcos Outlets are the way to go. San Marcos is home to one of the largest discount plazas in Texas. The great thing is that there are plenty of stores to shop and discover. Make sure you go prepared in case the outside weather gets rough. The outlets are located outside and are not arranged like the average mall. But don’t worry, you’ll still have fun at this huge discount area!

Get your warm clothes on when Springtime comes into town because things tend to get warm. From live community concerts to mother and son bowling competitions. The San Marcos atmosphere transforms into a youthful one when the new year comes around. San Marcos’ SummerFest is one of the most anticipated events each year. There’s plenty of music, food, and fireworks to light up the town and bring cheer. There are also beauty pageants and competitions to look forward to during the hottest season.
The Fall usually brings plenty of fun outdoor activities to town. You can enjoy from the All-Star Games, Farmer Fred’s Harvest Fall Carnival, Native Plant Sale, and Veterans Day Parade. These activities are sure to keep you on your toes from the excitement in the air.
You can go out to the park and enjoy the park party going on in town. The party hosts usually put up some yard games and music. Plaza Park also offers a free movie with food for the community.

If you’re looking to have the best college years of your life, go and support the Bobcats during all of their season games. You will also be able to enjoy some great marching bands and awesome sight shows. If anyone knows how to have fun in San Marcos, it’s the Bobcats.

The Strahan Arena is home to three of the Bobcat’s sports teams; Men’s Basketball, Women’s Basketball, and Volleyball. It is a great place to support some of the best collegiate athletes in Texas. The Wonder World Cave and Park is a one of a kind theme park. The cave has been open to the public for over 100 years and it doesn’t stop there. You won’t want to miss out on all the classic cars this attraction spot has. Dick’s Classic Car Museum is perfect for all the hotrod fanatics in the San Marcos area. Wimberly Glassworks is an art studio that displays beautiful sculptures, vases, lighting, and platter collections. The facility offers some interesting classes that aim to become a better artist. They also include live music and some demos to make things more interesting.
